Memory. My maternal grandmother, standing on the screened porch looking out across the field on a hot summer evening. “Young’uns, the Dog Days of Summer are upon us,” she would declare, wiping her Irish brow with a cotton hankie. Those Dog Days have arrived in Georgia, and not the Bulldog kind! Our surprisingly early and gorgeous lavender bloom is coming to an end for the season, but our Farm Fridays will continue with new herbs and veggies coming on and several exciting Fridays of demonstrations, in spite of Dog Days!
A list is in order, so here goes!
July 4th, Open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.. In our 11:00 demonstration, we will present a couple of tried and true herbal applications and teas for inflammation. Sounds serious, but it will be a fun, hands-on demo! Dried lavender bundles, many herbal bath and body and culinary items available for sale.
July 11th, We will not be open at the farm, as we are representing Georgia Grown at the Augusta, GA, state visitor center. Come out and see all your regional farm and agri-tourism options, along with other interesting local businesses at the Georgia State Line Visitor Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m..
July 18th, closed for vacation.
July 25th, Open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. with a very interesting morning demo at 11:00, at which time we will be making vinegar infusions from interesting and wonderful farm grown herbs. Lots of tastings and veggies. As always, our on farm sales of lavender products and culinary herbs continue.
Come on out to the Farm!
